I couldn’t believe the results — I am frightened and worried about what will happen to our country. 😢

I am both of those things. For someone who grew up reading The Diary of Anne Frank and had friends and relatives who either escaped the Holocaust as children, or didn’t escape, this is all very troubling to me.

I find myself wishing for the big earthquake to take off all of Washington west of the Cascades.

I am so thankful not to be American right now, even though Canada has its issues with politicians too. I'm afraid the world is about to blow up. I can't believe a majority of people would vote for a convicted felon. Or that he would even be allowed to run. God help you, and all of us, with such a one in charge.

Thank you. We are going to need all the help we can get. Yes, I’m fearing what he will do to the economy and the environment, but the worst feels like the realization that so many people voted for him not in spite of all his crimes and personal bigotries, but BECAUSE of them. I’m fearing what he will do to vulnerable people and the greedy nut cases he wants to give power to. Oh hell…I thought I was doing better today, but apparently I am not.

Deep breaths, honey. Keep telling yourself "this too shall pass."

You are one person in one corner of the world. Make that corner the best it can be and let other people take responsibility for the rest. Big hug.

My little corner has many trees and good people in my circle. I will try to do this and hope it will be enough. If only I could shut myself off from the coming nightmare. Definitely going to minimize the news.

Anne, you may be bruised, but you are not broken.

First of all, you have talent like I have never seen before in other artists. And I love it. I have always been amazed by artists because artists see things that ordinary people (like me)(who are not gifted with the god-spark artists have )do not see.

You are one of the strongest, smartest, cleverest, funniest, women I have had the pleasure to know! Right now, you need cosseting; you need your friends around you; you need comfort food; you may even need a stiff drink—a bootini or two! Or straight up vodka with a twist—the driest martini, EBER!

And I learned something today: I went out for breakfast, made a new friend, ran into an old friend, heard from two former students from the 1960s, one who had canvassed in Pennsylvania and wanted advice on how to continue the fight against Trump and his minions. The other former student felt that all was lost and also seeking advice about what to do next.

I learned today that we need to take a deep breath, (several deep breaths) gather any frazzled nerves, raise our blood sugar levels by a good breakfast and be good to ourselves, touch base with friends, be supportive of others, etc. And Guess what! I begin to feel better.

So, I am here for you; your biggest fan! If you need to vent, please vent! I do know one thingie for sure: the stupidity of the American people never fails to amaze me. Why people vote for people who will never help them, I have never understood. I also learned that coming to a conclusion for myself about the next four years(oh, the horror!) was about all I could handle for the rest of the day.

The next four years will not be easy. The thought of RFK being in charge of health care frightens me more than anybody knows. The rest of the Trump minions scare me, too. We will be watchmen on the tower to try to keep these people on task. And the fight against the whole idea of a totalitarian government and to keep what is left of our democracy safe will keep us busy. In other words, the fight continues. We go on.

The one thing that keeps me (a tiny bit) hopeful is we have a strong new D governor (Vote for BOB!) Bob Ferguson who was our AG and did so well against the worst of TFG’s attempts at overturning the constitution. And our new AG was in Ferguson’s office,, so feel pretty good about him too,

Thank you for all your kind cheerleading of me. For the short term, I am just going to have to hunker down on my island and try to keep getting out of bed every day.
