I love this. I'm sure when you (and I) were 21 we didn't have any reason to believe we could live our lives as artists. And yet you did, I did. I think that's an amazing leap of faith and you should be very proud of the road you took.
I had no belief that this life was possible, and yet I did it. I think the time we grew up in (loooong ago) it was easier because we didn't get out of school with crippling debt. I was able to get restaurant jobs that paid my bills and kept me in paint and pay back my school loans. And here I am. Still painting.
As to your question, I don't think we can escape building on who we were, but yes, we also reinvent—continually and thankfully! I still see that 21-year-old in there. Often. And sometimes the 12-year-old, too. And it's all good!
I think this very thoughtful young lady in her twenties would be so proud of you and what you have done with your life!
🥰❤️🐼
I think she would too. I would also think she'd be amazed that I've managed to live a life driven and supported by art.

I love this and can’t wait to read more. Sometimes when I look back on where I’ve been all I can think is that, blessedly, life has been so *long*
Were you a cowgirl in that adorable young picture of little Anne?
I was, indeed a cowgirl. I think of that as my gunslinger phase.
I think many of our generation had gunslinger stages. I was so jealous of my sister who had two six shooters, and I only had one little pistol.

I'm quite fond of the 12 year old, and the 12 year old humor that comes with her.
Snicker…
hee hee!
I love this so much! Love how you can recall your past so well. ❤️
