The Year in Review, Part 1

Well, if everyone ELSE is going to do one...

I have mixed feelings about the whole year in review thingie, but like many of the last 7 years, there has been a lot of stuff happening, and I process so much of what goes on in the real world through my ‘toons. It’s more of a direct process than through my painting. Yes, painting is a reaction and interaction with what I experience, but unless I want to do re-creations of Artimesia Gentileschi’s Judith and Holnefernes, (look it up) it’s a little more of a direct one to one relationship in the ‘toons.

So, without further ado, here are some of my favorite ‘toons from eaxch month of the year. This will probably be a 3 part series, as otherwise, it will get a bit long and I can only add so many images in a post.

January

We’ll just take as a given that Pinky’s mom made her write wrote for her a big stack of resolutions. The most important thing was that Seattle’s WOOZPPAH Zoo got 2 adorable bear cubs, that had found themselves motherless in a hostile world.

February

Apparently, Pinky has already thrown her tiara into the ring for 2024…

Meanwhile, the purloined papers brouhaha heats up at Purr-A-Lago…

March

We received many alerts of Bears in the Nooz stories. One of our favorites was the selfie taking bear that posed for over 400 of them. For those new to The Panda (and Bear) Chronicles, Josie is Frank and Mikey’s sister, and Pookie’s mom.

April

There was a big fuss about a Chinese spy balloon in the spring of 2023. Some people (MARGE!!!!) thought we should shoot it down right now, who cares if it might have nuclear stuff in it, maybe it will fall on a blue state!!!

That was obviously a bad idea.

Well…pandas ARE Chinese…

I think that’s it for episode 1 of our year in review! ‘Toon in for the next installment…um…whenever it arrives!

I can’t say it enough. I’m so glad you’re all here. It’s going to be a year full of crazy and we need to keep our heads on our shoulders, cuppycakes on hand at all time, and pandas on our brains! Maybe read this post by Teri Kanefield about why we shouldn’t panic (Spoiler: because it’s what the GQP wants us to do)
