The Sun is Out and I'm Not Going to Think About...
I am trying really hard not to depress myself, or you all either
Boy the nooz is really coming at us fast and hard. More shootings, more GOP shenanigans, more TFG obfuscations…more, more, more.
But we’ve had several days of rain and now the sun is out so of course my mind turns to pandas.
When does my mind not turn to pandas?
But now I take a turn to the dark side once again, (sorry sorry sorry) because it is hard not to think about this:
By this time next year, in what should be the Panda Season of Love, the US will likely be totally without pandas.
In April of 2019, Bai Yin and Mr Wu moved to China, several months after Gao Gao returned there, much to my surprise. The Panda Sisterhood made several trips there before they left. Watching Mr. Wu get accustomed to his travel crate was heartbreaking. We could watch him from the high bridge that goes over Panda Canyon.
By the time this hits your screen, Ya Ya, lately of Memphis TN, will be returning to China.
At the end of this year, the contracts for both the Washington DC pandas and the Atlanta pandas will expire, and they will all return to China. With the current political tensions between the US and China, it seems unlikely that we will get more pandas any time soon.
Unless, of course, China thinks it is in their interests to try to get on our good side.
China: Hey there! Hi Hi Hi Hi! Look at this cute baby panda! Wanna have a couple for your own? Here! You can sit with it on your lap! Isn’t it cute?
US: What’s in it for us?
China: Do you have to ask? It’s a PANDA!!!
In the meantime, I’m trying to comfort myself with occasional visits to the Pookies at Woodland Park Zoo.
Hey, for all of you who *might* miss me on Twidder…
Substack has started this new twitter-like thingie called Notes. It works kind of like Twidder and you can put pictures on it. I’m not totally sure if you have to be subscribing to and of the noozletters here, but it does seem that you do not have to be a paid subscriber to anything, maybe just a regular free subscriber, so if you are subscribing to this, you can post there.
One of the things I miss about Twidder is the playtime with PandaTwidder. I realize I *could* still do that, but just following the occasional link to a post there just depresses me so much I leave. I do miss my friends there. It appears that Elmo has destroyed more than “just” $24 Billion or so worth of value of Twidder. If you’re already reading my Noozletter here, I think you can hop on to Notes or follow this link.
I hope to see you here or maybe even over at Heffalump! There’s a new ‘toon over at The Panda Chronicles too! See ya around the zoo! Look! Pookies!
It will be difficult to live in a Panda-free nation but we will endure.

Rejoice that it happened, and that you were part of it."
Please don't fall into depression. Think of Pinky's spirit, I'm sure she'll make you smile.
All 'bout Pinky, all da time :-))
