The House is not in order
I watched in horror along with everyone else, or at least everyone else I knew, on January 6 of 2021. Can this really be happening? How is this possible?
The House IS not in order
I’ll admit, the first six or seven times Kevin lost the Speaker vote, it was amusing. I passed popcorn and chugged an adult beverage or two as I engaged in a bit of schadenfreude at his humiliation.
After that I realized the insurrectionists had achieved their ends. They were now inside the house, or should I say inside the House? In return for their worthless promises of a vote for Kevin (do we have any reason to believe they are men and women of honor?) he has already given away the store.
The House is not in ORDER
If the current SCOTUS has been using Margaret Attwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale as a primer for imposing their will on women’s bodies, Kevin McCarthy seems to be taking instruction from Lord of the Flies instead of Robert’s Rules of Order in running this circus.
I guess I should be grateful that I had a couple of weeks of feeling slightly less anxious on how all this was going to turn out, post the November elections. Indeed, It is a relief that the predicted Red Tsunami just turned out to be a slight stain on our white shirt sleeve. A mere splash of Pinot Noir, perhaps.
Still, it seems futile to hope that should Kevin get his hands on the Speaker’s gavel, even for a little while, that he has anything resembling a spine.
THE HOUSE IS NOT IN ORDER
See you again sometime next week. As usual, I will try to post once a week, with the occasional inspiration popping up every now and then!
I am right where you are. I needed more time to enjoy our Senate win and the lack of Red Rave. I feel anxious thinking about the chaos that can happen. I’m determined to keep positive if it’s the last thing I do!!!!❤️🐼
I love all these little bears.
I think “Charlie Blockhead” Kevin McCarthy better buckle up; the bumpy ride is ahead.
Hang tough.
