It is Panda Scout Cookie Time Eve!
Every year, as the scent of Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies fills the air, I am reminded of this story...
This story has several inspirations. The first, is the omnipresent time of stress from my childhood, which was the annual Girl Scout cookie sales. I was very shy, and going around neighborhoods selling cookies was not my idea of a good time. I would much rather eat them. This was in the days when it was supposedly safe for girls to go off with their wagon load of cookies, all by themselves. I could have been attacked by bears! I suppose it never occurred to my parents that I could just set up my cookie stand in a corner of my father’’s drug store, or maybe I was supposed learn how to stand on my own, independently. Whatever.
The other inspirations were the the Chris Christy/New Jersey Bridge Gate scandal, along with Pinky’s ongoing war with the Pandalanta twins, the Meihems. This story also features Inspector Panda, originally hired by Bai Yun when Mr. Wu ran away to join the circus.
Let’s sit back, crack open a box of Binky Bars and maybe some Boo Mints, and enjoy the show!

I love that yellow car! And I wondered where the Meihems got it! This trip is fraught, I tell you, fraught! Will Mommee Mei’s black fur turn gray because of her daughter’s deeds?!?!
I only had eyes for Pinky BaoBao! She had been declared an icon and was a “cubber” girl for the SMITHSONIAN Magazine. We helped the Chinese realize their dream of keeping these marvelous bears from extinction. They are still Vulnerable, but not headed to extinction.
If Richard Nixon did one good thing, it was taking his wife , Pat, with him on the historic trip to China because Pat Nixon really began panda diplomacy by accepting a gift of two pandas from the second in command, Jhou En Lai. I know I have mentioned this before, but it was a historic occasion! And I am into history! And I have Panda Love which is a rare condition where you just adore pandas and watching them is very soothing for the soul!
