Don't Call Me Boo Boo

...or late for cake!

In 2016 (which was a really bad year for other reasons) Number 2 Son, Bubba (aka Bei Bei, meaning precious treasure) shocked the panda world on his birthday for the catastrophic breach of panda protocol: He slept through cake. But I digress…

There was a many year gap between the birth of Mei Xiang’s first surviving cub, Tai Shan and her second, Bao Bao (aka Princess Pinky), so it was very exciting to all the panda watchers (panda peepers?) when Bubba was born only 2 years after Pinky. (Pinky: it was a good thing he did not steal my birthday, but his should have been AFTER mine!)

The Bubba years brought much joy to those of us who follow every moment of the DC panda’s lives. The advent of panda cams at three of the four zoos in the US that had pandas was a boon to panda watching and we broke the internet several times during all the panda births and cubbies vet checks. (If you haven’t seen the video of Mr. Wu’s most famous vet check: The Green Ball, you may already be dead.)

On with the ‘Toons!

As you might expect, Pinky demanded that we post some ‘toons about her on her actual birthday, which is tomorrow, in case you forgot. (as if!) So, we’ll see you tomorrow too, then we will return to our more or less once a week postings here. I’m trying to get on a schedule, but I’m not always successful with that!
