All my life, I’ve found connections, in school, out of school, where I worked, where I live. So many of those connections led to other connections, old friends led to new friends, those connections led to inspirations and travel.
But connections are more than just a way to find joy and fulfillment in life.
When you live on an island you might be more aware of just how things connect to keep the wheels of existence turning.
If the ferry stops running, food and goods can’t get to the island
Stop that pipeline long enough, and stores will start to close
When stores close, people lose their jobs
When people lose their jobs and stores close, you might have to leave the island to shop, because what you need isn’t here
But there is no ferry so you have to make the long drive ups the island, 45 miles+ to get off the island, but when you get there, you find the shelves empty or those stores closed too
If your car breaks down and they can’t get parts to fix it, you are again out of luck
Yes, I am starting to scare myself
This is what is about to happen on a much larger scale throughout the country.
If you make it hard for women to get reproductive care, doctors start leaving your state. Medical residents won’t choose that state for their residency. Now, everyone, not only women, will have a harder time finding a doctor, getting care, costs will go up, more people will remain sick or die.
Connections
If you have a president, who let’s just say for argument, decides to randomly put tariffs on things we need for every day life, for manufacturing of cars or refrigerators or tools or toys or grain for bread, the price of those things goes up for the manufacturers, so the price goes up, people who have lost their jobs can’t afford them. Then maybe the manufacturer decides they can no longer afford to stay in business and more people lose their jobs.
Connections
I could go on, but you get the picture. If a thing happens, there are consequences. It might not be the outcome you had in mind, but you don’t have control how, say, a foreign supplier of some material or part will react to your action.
I’m not an economist. I am not good at math-y things. But even I, as a self employed no one can fire me artist knows that if people all around me are losing their jobs, they won’t be buying many paintings.
Well, I’ve probably depressed us all enough
So let’s have a little fun before we all head out to stock up on toilet paper and instant coffee….
There are always career options for those who are creative thinkers.
Inspiration and people who make me want to hang in here a bit longer, here on the Subs:
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ and many more besides.Even as I type they are counting votes in Canada. Early projections put the Liberal party in the lead, so I am trying to remain hopeful, even knowing things can go wrong in the wee hours. Elbows up! Don’t be as stoopid as we south of your border.

Oh thank you so much for the mention!!! I appreciate you!! And I share your concerns. We will just have to help each other as best we can - the barter system will work fine... I'm finding comfort in Mark Carney's win in Canada!. Hugs to you!!! And thanks again ☺️ 💙💙💙💙💙
OMG, thanks for the shout-out, Anne, but especially--thanks for the laughs! Your pandas are adorable, you've pegged competitions exactly, and I love 'Panada'.
I especially love that Canada gave the finger to Trump yesterday. They learned from our colossal mistakes. And of course it helped that Trump stuck his nose in. I wonder how many millions he brought to the polls who otherwise might not have voted. 😏
